Bad Channel Count Before Bonding
A summary of the number of faulty channels before bonding
to the silicon is given below. The fault
codes are:
- Dead Channel = 1
- No response to Q inject = 2
- Noisy Channel = 3
- Stuck-on Channel = 4
- Digital Problem = 5 (this is the problem described above, where the channel
fires even when masked off)
- Unbonded = 6 (this is not applicable here)
- Inefficient Channel = 7
- Unknown problem = 999

Some observations:
There are a few channels with digital problems on many chips, except
for chip 1 on HDI H1-13, where this
problem affects almost all channels.
There is a problem which we categorized as "No response to Q inject".
Channels with this problem do not seem to see the charge injection pulse.
We never saw such problems on either rad soft or rad-hard V1 chips.
Chip 13 on HDI H1-29 has many weird channels
which are categorized as "Unknown Problem". The threshold scan curve for
one such channel is shown below.

or on any other chip in this batch.
Bad Channel Count After Bonding
- The digital problem which affected most channels on
HDI H1-13 became
intermittent.
- Chip 3 on HDI H1-13 stopped responding to
charge injection. As discussed
previously a drop in AVDD2 current consistent with a missing chip
was also observed, however visual inspection showed no obvious problem
with the power bonds to this chip.
- The LED was used to check whether channels with a
"No response to Q inject"
problem could see charge from the silicon. They did not. So this
problem is not due to a problem with the charge injection circuitry.
- A full accounting of bad channels, including effects from the several
bad channels on the silicon, is not yet available.
