The Writings of Henry D. Thoreau

• The Writings of Henry D. Thoreau was established in 1966 to produce a new, definitive edition of all of Thoreau's writings, including his Journal and correspondence. Eleven volumes of a projected thirty have been published by Princeton University Press to date (1997).

• Funding for such editorial projects has become increasingly scarce. For a discussion of the current state of NEH funding, see "NEH Cuts Hit Research and Education Hard".

• The Textual Center for the project is located in the Davidson Library at the University of California.
