Dear Physics 24 students, Many students misinterpreted Problem 1 because of the confusion between relativistic mass and rest mass. In class I tried to make clear several times that we should not use the term relativistic mass, it is a somewhat old-fashioned concept and not particularly useful. There is just one mass. Unfortunately I realize that the K&K book talks about relativistic mass, sigh. I think I graded the problem a bit too harshly for those students that made this mistake. I would like to regrade this problem -- I will not give full credit, but a bit more credit than I originally did. If you think that you were unfairly penalized by this misunderstanding, here is what we will do. PLEASE READ VERY CAREFULLY. (1) Pick up your midterm from Debbie (Broida 5014). Be aware that she does not work on Fridays. (2) Scan or take a picture of your graded Problem 1 (3) Email me a copy of the scan or the picture (4) The subject of the email should be: Physics 24 regrade (5) In the body of the email write your full name and your perm number (6) Do this before Friday night if you can I will then respond to each individual mail with your corrected score. Probably not before the end of the week-end, so be patient.
