Practice Final, and its solutions.
Practice Midterm, Solutions; note the number for the force in 4(c) has a typo and should be 4 108 dynes.
The lecture meets MWF 1:00-1:50pm in Broida 1640, and the one discussion session meet Friday 12:00-12:50pm in North Hall 1105.
Prof. Nelson's office hours will be Friday, 2:30-4:30pm in either the Physics Study Room, which is Broida 1019, or his office 5103 Broida, depending on the number of students. The TA, Viva Horowitz, has office hours in the Physics Study Room. Asher Mullokandov will also be TAing this course part time.
The text for the course is Electricity and Magnetism, 2nd Edition, by Purcell. We plan to cover Chapters 2-7 of Purcell.
Problem sets will be assigned Mondays, and due the following Monday in class, except for the 2 weeks where there is a Monday holiday (Jan. 21 and Feb. 18), in which case the problems will be due on Wednesday. It is fine to work together to find solutions to problems, but each student must write up their work independently.
The plans for grading are: Problem sets, 30%; Midterm (currently planned on Wednesday, Feb. 13), 30%; Final, 40%.
Students should also enroll in 4L or 13BH.

Assignment from the TA: Please send at least one post each week (except the weeks of January 23 and February 14) to physics-24@googlegroups.com by Thursday at noon. You can either send a question on the reading assignment this week or you can answer another student's question. You can subscribe to the messageboard.
Book recommendation from the TA:
This cheap handbook is an excellent resource: Schaum's Easy Outlines: Mathematical Handbook of Formulas and Tables
by John Liu and Murray R. Spiegel.
